DWFS services include, but are not limited to:

DWFS services are charged on an hourly basis and billed to clients monthly. There is no success fee on any DWFS contract, including engagements with a capital formation component. All services are provided on a fee-only, all-inclusive hourly basis.

The 2026 rate is $285 per hour, all-inclusive of expenses. Rates are reviewed annually.

DWFS services are typically delivered via three structures:

  • Ongoing fractional CFO
    • Continuous monthly capacity, typically 15 to 20 hours
    • Suited to organizations that need executive CFO-level judgement and board-facing capability, but not a full-time CFO
  • Interim and coverage
    • Defined-term capacity covering a CFO departure or extended leave.
    • Can include onboarding alongside the outgoing CFO (if available), quality control and support for the finance team, executive and board support through the gap, and a written recommendations report at handover.
  • Fixed-scope project
    • A defined deliverable, a capped hour budget and a delivery date.
    • Examples: Valuation work, fund and project models, budget builds, ownership transition support, diagnostic reports.

What to expect:

  • Each engagement is scoped with an estimate of hours and a stated cap. DWFS reports against estimated hours every month and bills itemized time between sub-projects if relevant.
  • Onsite presence is typically contracted, not incidental. Current agreements include quarterly half-day onsite visits, and defined in-person days at out-of-state clients.
  • DWFS attends board and committee meetings (where relevant) and supports the preparation of board materials.
Where appropriate, DWFS represents the client externally with lenders, auditors, counsel, service providers, grantors and investors.
  • All work product - models, reports, analysis - is owned by the client.
  • DWFS carries professional liability insurance and works strictly as an independent contractor, never as an appointed or elected officer of the client.
  • DWFS is not an accounting firm and does not provide bookkeeping, payroll or tax services. David works alongside existing accounting capacity, whether in-house or outsourced, and typically holds view-only access to accounting systems.
  • Engagements are non-exclusive on both sides, typically with a mutual NDA in place.

Supporting Internal Capacity Building:

  • David works directly with existing finance teams, helping to build capacity and identify areas for growth.
  • Several DWFS agreements expressly limit the role to guidance and support, so that systems, documentation and reporting stay in the client's hands rather than the consultant's.
  • DWFS hours typically fall as internal capacity builds.
